Construction workers injured in 10-foot fall

Safety equipment is extremely important to New York construction sites. There is a lot of inherent risk in working on a construction site and the safety measures help to keep workers as safe as possible. In many cases, these precautions are not suggestions. In fact, both federal and state law require construction sites to take many safety measures in order to make sure people are safe.

This includes protection from falls. Falling from large heights on construction sites can lead to a variety of serious injuries for workers. By using simple fall protection people can avoid serious injuries should a fall occur. However, even with these laws in place some construction company still refused to follow these basic safety rules. This can lead to serious accidents and workplace injuries.

Recently, a construction site accident occurred in New York where fall protection was not being used. In this case, a 30-year-old construction worker was working on an exposed I-beam along with another man. While working on a metal door, the door collapsed knocking the men off of the beam. As a result, the two men fell more than 10 feet into a cellar.

As a result of this workplace accident, the two men were both injured. The 30-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his leg in the accident and was taken to a local hospital. The other worker was also taken to a local hospital but with less severe injuries.

When a construction site accident occurs, workers may be entitled to workers' compensation benefits. Whether or not an employer was at fault for the accident, workers' compensation benefits can help to provide compensation for lost wages and medical expenses occurring in a workplace accident. This compensation can help workers move forward from dangerous and costly accidents.
