Construction site collapse kills 1

A construction site can be a dangerous place. Power tools, heavy machinery, unpredictable weather and dangerous locations can all contribute to the dangers faced by a New York construction worker. Despite these natural dangers, construction companies are required under New York and federal safety regulations to make a construction site as safe as possible.

When construction safety rules are ignored, people get hurt in construction site accidents. Recently, a New York construction worker was killed in a workplace accident. According to reports, the man was inside a hole performing work when the dirt gave way. The dirt collapsed on top of him and he was buried.

Rescue workers responded to the incident and they were able to remove him from the construction site and bring him to a local hospital. Despite rescue efforts, however, the man died a short time after arriving at the hospital. Police are still trying to determine what happened. The Medical Examiner's office has not released an official cause of death for the 22-year-old construction worker.

When construction workers, like the man in this case are killed in construction accidents, there are emotional and financial consequences. The family of the deceased worker is likely devastated and will have to learn to live without their loved one. Additionally, the family can suffer from lost wages, medical expenses, funeral costs and more.

In these situations, New York families need to know their legal rights and options. Workers' compensation maybe available to help the family with their financial recovery. Or, a wrongful death suit may be more appropriate. Families should make sure they act quickly to preserve these rights following a fatal construction site accident.
