Worker injured in New York car crash, second worker killed

On Behalf of | Jan 2, 2013 | Firm News, Workers' Compensation |

Not all workers actually work in an office or factory. Sometimes, people are required to travel for their jobs and others constantly work in new locations. However, workplace injuries can happen no matter where a New York employee is working. When injuries occur away from the central office, often employees still a right to be compensated for their injuries. If the injury happened as a result of a person’s employment then the person is generally entitled to workers’ compensation.

Workers’ compensation provides compensation for expenses arising out of a workplace accident. It can cover medical expenses, lost wages and other costs associated with the injuries.

One man may now be entitled to workers’ compensation after he suffered injuries on the job. This man and a co-worker were working on a telecommunications project in Westfield, New York. They both worked for a company based in Cincinnati. The man was from West Virginia, and his co-worker was from Ohio. While working near their truck on the side of the road, the men were hit by a car that drifted out of its lane.

The man’s co-worker was killed as a result of the accident. On the other hand, this man suffered from internal injuries and needed to be taken to a local hospital. At this time, his condition is unknown.

Despite the fact that this man was working away from his employer, he may still qualify for workers’ compensation. The accident that caused his injuries arose out of his employment, and reports indicate that the men were working at the time of the accident. In situations like this one, where workers are injured while working off-site, workers need to ensure that they receive all the benefits to which they are entitled.
